Just Plain Poor.
My "Friday Night Men's Night Out" group eats out every Friday night, so we have eaten at restaurants all over the upstate. But when it comes to Mexican we are still searching for the end all, be all Mexican restaurant. So we had to try the Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant.
As always we were prepared to leave our waitress 30%, however our waitress way too aloof, barely speaking to us, and acting as if we were enemies when we finally had to ask for something to drink. Then I broke my cardinal rule and left this horrid waitress a $5.00 tip. You know your service is bad when you actually want to return and ask for your tip back.
Puerto Vallarta looks like every other Mexican restaurant and frankly the food was the same as well, except for their salsa. Their green, extra hot salsa was a delight; avocado creamy with jalapeno zing, it was one of the best table chip salsas I ever tasted. We ordered an appetizer, which was actually a main course entree, but our waitress couldn't be bothered with such formalities and delivered everything at once.
Unfortunately, despite writing it down for this review, I lost my list and the food was so ordinary I literally forgot the names of the entrees we ordered, but one entree was a five enchilada dish with beans and rice, the second entree was a monster burrito with various fixins' and the third was a Mexican sampler plate with half a dozen items.
All in all the experience was forgettable, except for that green salsa and the $5.00 tip I wish I had back.
