I have eaten at the Hampton Buffet several times since moving to Greenville a year ago. The service has always been very warm and attentive, and the food is consistently and surprisingly good for the price. The salad and dessert bars have a good selection for a buffet of this size, and they have a rotating menu of meats and mains through the week. Their clientele tends to be older, but you will also find young families and large groups in the dining area.

(More than anything, I felt I needed to write about my positive experiences at this restaurant to counter MitigationElf's review on 7/8/11. I'm always a bit skeptical when I see that someone has signed up to sites like these to only post one negative review...makes me think they might have a personal beef with the owner or something similarly unrelated to the actual quality of the establishment.)

Come here if you want to be treated very poorly. I went to Hampton Buffet regularly because they have a some-what healthy salad bar. However, most of their food has a very high fat, saturated fat, sodium, and sugar content. Most ofthe food on the bars coms straight off the Sysco truck, out of the can, into a pan, warmed up and served. There is nothing special, southern, or country about what is served.

The workers are very sweet, hard workers who need their jobs. They are very long-suffering because they are ridiculed, lied about, and lied to by the owner of the buffet, "Sonny." Sonny has now been caught my me in several lies to me and to her staff. She refuses to permit her register staff to allow the customer to close out the open-ended receipt they produce. You are at risk of having someone write in whatever tip and total they desire and forge your name.

My last straw with this place was when Sonny insulted me and my mother and said "Roo stoopi" (you are stupid.)

For insults and food that will raise your cholesterol and triglyceride, come to Wade Hampton Country Buffet.
